I just got a 9mm Kel Tec Subcomp 2000 carbine in trade for a granite cutting board from a trusted co-worker. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kel-Tec_SUB-2000
I like it because the first 10 rounds I ever put through it at 30 yards all hit center, then the next 10 at 50 yards kept 1 to 2 inch group at center. My only problem was the safety would slide just enough to come on after about 4 to 6 rounds. Seems like it might be relatively simple to fix, however I have no experience with this particular design. Before I start tinkering with this thing, does anyone have any experience with the innards of this thing and or an easy way to tighten up the safety? Other than the problem with the safety, it has become my next fun gun and I love that is uses Glock 17 mags.

Tue, May 27, 2008 - 8:10 PMYou know, I've also heard a lot of mixed *opinions* about kel-tecs. But as far as 'mixed reviews' by people who use them, I haven't heard any complaints. Usually the nay-sayers are the ones who will never touch a kel-tec because of how insubstantial it looks and feels in the hand.
I, too, am one of those nay-sayers. I just don't like the cheap looking plastic on their small pistols. i don't like to see a line where the mismatched moulding parts came together in two halves. They just look too cheap for me, I like steel guns.
But I haven't heard any complaints by people who like em enough to buy one.

Wed, May 28, 2008 - 7:06 AMI had a Kel Tec 9 mm and I hated the trigger pull. I sold it to my ex and got my Taurus. -

Thu, May 29, 2008 - 4:45 PMI had never considered buying one because of the magazine capacity. if they now take Glock mags then I might try one. I shunned them because the Glock 26-27 carry twice the ammo in the same sized package.
Ruger is now offering a neat little subcompact that might be interesting. -
