Bring your gun to church day

Frankly, I think this is stupid. I carry, and I'm not ashamed of it. But the church has nothing to do with it, and neither SHOULD the church have anything to do with it. I'm not sure why this should even make the news.

Yea, that's odd, maybe that church is looking for the publicity to further attendance. I don't know. It is a little odd but a lot of people see their church as a community and family. Bringing awareness to our rights and using this chance to educate on gun safety is always a good thing.

All the media attention could damage the overall goal though.

My church's official stand is neutral about guns, except to uphold the constitution and support all it's rights, even though guns are prohibited within the church walls. Although unofficially, many people carry in anyways, and it's usually with an unofficial 'ok' from the bishop after a short conversation. Also unofficially, I've never met a church official who was not pro-guns personally.

I would carry CCW if I ever actually went to church.

Mitch! LTNS. Wouldn't you burst into flames if you stepped into a house of the Lord?

Considering that there are a couple of church/wedding murders a year, and that the last big one was ended by a patron with a CCW,..

People have got to understand that people who carry CCW are not to be feared. These are people who have been certified by the state as being law abiding citizens, and with the formal training to understand the lawful use of force. These people have been checked out, they are not the enemy.

It is for this reason that I prefer concealed carry. Open carry casts a negative image in a war of images. I only carry openly when I am going camping or to the range. It freaks people out too much, especially my pimped 1911. You cannot miss it, even in the dark.
