Am I putting to much stress on my springs by leaving my mags loaded?

    I think so.
    Keep a revolver around.

uh-oh.... better correct the title before someone comes in here with the whole 'mags vs. clips nomenclature' thing.

In a well-made magazine, the springs should hold shape and temper for years and years without feeding problems.

Depending on what kind of mag we're talking about, many can have rounds stored in stripper-clips and a special adapter that interfaces the mag with the clip.... one good shove down with the thumb and voila, loaded mag, empty clip.

Don't worry about it. Springs wear out by constant compression and tension. The more you use it, the faster it will wear out.

This is the correct answer. It doesn't matter if you keep your magazines loaded or unloaded; what wears out the springs is the loading and unloading.

HA Ha and they'd be correct too.

I once used clip in the presence of an Ex Air Force Colonel.
I very quickly learned that a clip was a WWI and II assembly of a small number of rounds "clipped together" at the factory. A Magazine was what you read on the crapper.

I keep my AK mags loaded all the time, some for well over a year, and have never had a feed problem.

You can leave good mags loaded for years before the springs wear out (usually it shows up as you fire the last few rounds.) But I have never given a shit about the problem. Mags are cheap, lives are not. I'd rather buy new mags than have empty ones when I needed them.

To me, a shootable pistols that are stored unloaded in a case are just not earning their keep.

And AK Mags are the least expensive of all. Holy cow, they are all over the place.
