A "chick" conversation

Today at work, completely random, I met another female who recently had problems with mountain lions. I took an interest and try to engage her in conversation. (I have mt. lions too)

She throws in she has a 300 acre ranch just down the street. Immediately I get excited asking what she does on her ranch and if she makes money off it. Since that is my life's goal to be a true hobby farmer.

She tells me she has been really scared these past few months, I assume its the mountain lion attacks and tell her a few tips.

No, its the burnt up vehicles along the boarder of her property and the farmers that wander onto her property when she is there by herself. She doesn't live on this ranch she lives on the other side of town but she feels she is being watched by people.

She casually mentions she carries. Thats all she said, my mind wanted to know what, how, and how often. Silly I know but since I had all my young employees around I didn't think it was appropriate to dig for information. (most are in high school)

She went on to tell me, I should carry at all times, even on others property, but in obvious view (meaning surrounding adjacent properties when bringing in my animals) this is against the CA norm so I was pretty ecstatic to meet this charming woman.

I can't wait to talk to her again.
Just wanted to share

A woman after my own heart, a pistol toting (hott?) babe. I guess that is why I admire my Granny so much, she totes on the farm and keeps it in her car on the road.........................

Nope, but she has always been extra special to me, cause she taught me to shoot, and raised me up.

I think it taboo because these are city kids with loads of money, working at a country "private" club with out real parental supervision or support. They are given money but expected to work so it makes the parents look like they are doing a great parental job of teaching their child worldly ethics.

Hard to explain but its not my job to expose them to responsible gun toting people. They would probably go off the deep end quick without the proper exposure and education.

Well, that's an answer and one I hadn't anticipated either.

I hear what you're saying, Lisa. I still don't have a problem illustrating to any child that guns are serious but acceptable business that require a great deal of responsibility. I'd also welcome the chance to de-mystify the whole gun thing. I think there should be nothing mysterious about guns--nothing to be curious about. A taboo topic is no longer taboo if one can discuss it openly.

In lieu of parental support, I have no problem modeling good, responsible behavior. I'm not sure that showing someone that they can be responsible will cause that person to go off the deep end. It's not my job to raise someone's kid, but it's always my job to model good behavior, no?

I guess you had to be there, but the part about burnt out cars along her fenceline was uncanny. Did she seem a little far out there when she talked about the people watching her or the farmers walking across her property? (probably kids.)

You were wise to not talk in depth about CCW in front of the kids. Since it is difficult to get a CCW permit in the PRK, she may be carrying illegally. If one of those kids swings to the left (as many in CA do) they might drop dime on her. At minimum they'll tell someone else who may object to the whole CCW thing. Be careful with people you have not been to the range with.

I'll stick with a southern gals, with no tan lines and the ability to fry chicken, make biscuts, and cook anything I hunt or catch on a hook.

Awww man the sweetness of a Georgis peach, especially of she has jsut the right mixture of tom boy, southen belle, and Aunt Bea's cooking. You know I have had a few that "almost" hooked me. All women are crazy, just trying to find one that does not become mega bitch after the engagement ring hit the finger.

Mine is an Opera singer with a penchant for fashion. She loves motorcycles, fast cars, off-roading and camping, doesn't mind getting dirty but always gets dolled up afterward. One of those girls that doesn't care if she's working on a car or wrestling livestock in the dirt, as long as she looks sexy. She's also a fitness afficcionado, twice as strong as a pack of cheerleaders but just as flexible. I don't enter the lottery now, I figure it'd be greedy at this point.

I forgot to mention how much she likes guns. After the ring, of course, my wedding gift to her was a handgun. she loves it. Bought me a reloading kit for my anniversary, she did. LOL!

Man you really found a match made in heaven. I guess maybe one day I will find one who will accecpt all my traits and character. I am different and I dunno why, just was born like this, and I have fought it since I realized I was not like everyone else.

A girl I used to date would rather got plink at cans with a .22, than drag me around any mall in the state. She would bait her own hook, and was comfortable around the camp fire. She was as accurate with a .38 as she was with her kisses. If only she had not moved to England with her Air ZForce father, I bet them english boys cannot show her the fun I did.

Ahhh, newlyweds. You know the difference between a couple who has been married for 2 years and one that has been married for 20?

The 20 year couple have long since discarded the illusions. you'll be surprised all the things that you thought she found cute that she really didn;t.

                      LOL! hahaha

Well, niether of us has really changed since before we met each other, so I'm hoping I have at least a decent chance that things will stick.

Or, I guess I better live it up with the 18 years of free-range I still have left!

Oh, you'll do fine. What's important is that you change together.
