I've heard good things about the Walther P22. Any other recommendations on .22 handguns I might consider for my collection? I might also look at mouseguns...

Love my Ruger MkIII .22. It's heavy, but accurate to a fault (target model) and reliable as can be.

The S&W 22 is great and accurate, and easier for kids to use than the Ruger MKII. If you can find one, look at the High Standard line of guns. They were really great but went out of business for other reasons (Sterling revived their line for a while though.)

Mouse guns are tricky. Avoid a mousegun in 22 as they are not inherently reliable feeders. This is the one area where 25cal outperforms 22. The 25 cal cartridge is designed for little guns with a rebated auto rim. My Beretta 950 is the only pistol I have that has never jammed, and I have shot it until it needed a new firing pin.

However, If you are willing to carry a Beretta 950 then spend the extra $100 and get the Tomcat in 32cal. Not much bigger, and 32 silvertips actually work better than they should on paper as per Sanow & Marshall.

My wife's got a 5-shot mini-revolver. The kind you can completely conceal in a man's closed fist. Single action. Cute as a button. 2cylinders, one for .22LR and one for .22WMR ..barrel is about an inch.

There is quite a bit of flip-up when shooting, so much so that to compensate you gotta aim about three full degrees low. Once you get the hang of it, it's actually pretty consistent.

I can make an empty milkjug dance at 50 feet with all five shots. Of course, this is not a 50-foot gun. it's a belly-gun by any definition or intended design. The accuracy just happens to be much better than what would ever be needed from it.

(a sidenote about North American Arms minirevolvers as opposed to other brands, NAA has a patented hammer safety, dropping the hammer fully into any of five notched cut into the cylinder BETWEEN chambers allows the gun to be safely carried with all cylinders stuffed-not so with other brands, where 'safety' is half-cocked over an empty cylinder.

The wife loves it because it's 'cute' and hides anywhere, no matter what she's wearing. I'm still trying to get her to practice up to a level of accurate rapid-fire. Anyone who takes five full seconds to line up every shot, has no business carrying a gun for self-defense. Hopefully I can get her up to par before spring is up.

I have NAA mini revolver as well as a MK II Ruger, Ruger Bearcat (inherited) and a Taurus PT22 I bought off a fellow fireman. he had bought it for his ex wife. I like 22;s cheap to shoot, and plinking is something I gew up doing. I have taken some small game with a .22. and use them when I camp and fish.

I have a ruger MK I and II like them both are far as shooting is concerned.Cleaning however always seems to be a chore. Can never get it to slide back together on the first try.
As far as the NAA mini revolvers I have one also,Try shooting it with your middle finger as your trigger finger and using your thumb and index holding the cylinder while palming it.,gets rid of that barrel pull as you squeeze off in the normal fashion.
