a while back , Thousand made me think about how I could break into my house, If my family were held hostage, now some of the precautions I had already taken would serve me well if I improvised a bit, my house is set up so we can evacuate it quickly, and the o shit bag in the tunnel between my basement and garage would help. If I had to run , on my way out I had always planned on setting off tear gas behind me, thousand made me realize that I could use this to get in my house, so I modified my plans to work either way, I made one pretty big change, I think trying to use a assault rifle in the house would be a big pain in the butt, so I went looking for one of those semi auto uzi copies, and I found somthin wayy more gooder, a pair of 30 rd clips for my beretta, I have the firepower I wanted, easy to move around and handle, for 30 bucks. I already had the pistol. extended pistol mags may be worth lookin into for some of yall. I hope this helps

Sat, November 1, 2008 - 3:19 PMSounds cool. Those Uzi's are terrible anyways. I've heard a couple of stories about those things having sear issues and going into full auto just from being worn out, or firing without even pressing the trigger.
Did you have a ballistic vest in your tunnel bag? 'Cause a household gunfight isn't nearly as enjoyable if you're just as vulnerable as the other guy shooting back. In an enclosed space like a house or a hallway, you could even get along with a ballistic shield, and they're quicker to get ready than putting on a vest, not to mention a vest doesn't necessarily stop you from dying or being taken out of the fight, as bullets can still feel like a weighted louisville slugger to the chest. -

Mon, November 3, 2008 - 2:12 AMFirst off Uzi's have several safety systems (including a grip safety).
What alot of people call "Uzis" are often times something else. -

Re: home invasion
Sat, November 29, 2008 - 7:22 PMGood topic! I'm often looking at what I have in the home and thinking how I could use it as a weapon or another means of defense if I had to. I've even considered how to hole up in the house if someone breaks in and I can't get out. The strategic placement of certain items is a given in my household. -

.... make sure you're also looking at it from the perspective of an intruder. A sword or baseball bad propped in the corner by the door is just as likely to be accessible to him as you.... Put the same item in with all the umbrellas, and the odds of him not finding it before you at a little more in your favor.
Picture you're coming into your house, and you hear someone in the master bedroom. You look around for a weapon. You look around to put together a good strategy to neutralize that person with minimal risk to yourself. Walk through a scenario of the things you would do, and the way you would use the shape of the hallway and the handy items on the way. Complete this excercise before your read my next sentence:
In this excercise, YOU are the intruder. you are playing the role of a 'bad guy' who has broken into the home. The person you hear in the master bedroom, the person you're planning to neutralize, is you. or your spouse.
Now, think about how far you got in that excercise, as the 'bad guy' and reasess how safe you are in your home, without any assumptions in your favor like the bad guy being 'hopped up on drugs' or 'in a hurry' or 'scared and not thinking clearly' or 'inexperienced'... plan for the worst. -

Sun, November 30, 2008 - 8:39 AMIIn addition to my hidden guns throughout the house I also have at least one decorative wall hanging in every room that can be utilized.By wall hanging I mean battleaxe, sword or a wakizashi. They are also great in close combat situations. -

Re: home invasion
Sun, November 30, 2008 - 11:01 AMI used to have all kinds of mall ninja weapons, they were kinda fun for acting like a jackass when you're bored. I ended up getting rid of them though. Clutter. The only blade I kept was a civil-war style cavalry sabre. It's not authentic, but it is very high quality. It just sits in the closet for now, cause I don't have a barn lol. -

Re: home invasion
Mon, December 1, 2008 - 6:29 PMKeep guns in every room you are likely to be in during a home invasion. Where do you spend the most of your time? If it is the couch then have a few guns there.
Tasers are an option I am considering for layering my home defense system. The are non-lethal (in case of accidents) and work well, but you have one round..... They are about half the cost of a decent revolver so you can buy 2 or three. -

Sat, December 6, 2008 - 4:29 PMjust thought of this; be sure and test out those 30 round mags in your pistol. A friend bought some a/m 24 rounders for his and they don't work nearly as well as his std cap magazines.
