The pellets seem pretty neat, but I think they're primarily designed for the inline 'modern' blockpowder rifles (that actually use a shotgun primers.)

I like the idea of the pellet but it's not available in 58 cal. I think the inline rifles are not authentic black powder and should be relegated to general rifle season.

Flintlock sounds fun. have you purchased the rifle yet?

i have not purchased one yet i'm still in the trying to find out more info.
it is really hard to find any dealers here in western canada which really suprised me.
the closest i found was half way across the country and they will not send it by mail unless you have a permit, even though it is the only firearm in canada that does not need a permit.
thank you for you response Adam!
any more info on flintlocks anyone can give me would be great!

Cabelas sells a pretty good supply of BP firearms. Here in the states you can have them shipped easily because they are not considered to be firearms. Powder n primers are another thing altogether. They must be shipped ground freight only.

You could also consider a kit gun. You finish the wood, brown the metal, and assemble the thing yourself.

Pedersoli & Fillipieta are the 2 most prominent makers of replica black powder firearms. Funny thing, the Italians are crazy about old west guns.

I, myself am not a big fan of pyrodex, pellet or otherwise.
Blackpowder has been use effectivly for hundreds of years and is not that difficult to clean.
I do love flintlock rifles, it is the longest running style of ignition system on a firearm in history, there had to be a reason for that.
Depending on what you want to spend on a flintlock ,you have a lot of choices,or you can build your own.
I have been building them for years, and enjoy it very much, any insite I can give, feel free to ask, I also have a fairly large list of suppliers for anything you would need to build one.
